The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is currently on the case of a mysterious disappearance involving a 45-year-old man named Masood Masjoody in Burnaby, and they are asking for the community's help. This case has raised eyebrows because authorities believe that something foul may have occurred.
Here’s where it gets intriguing: authorities are not linking his case to gang activities or extortion schemes, which often complicate such investigations. "We don’t think Masood’s disappearance was a random event," stated Sergeant Freda Fong of IHIT, emphasizing the unusual nature of the situation.
Interestingly, social media reveals that Masjoody has been involved in activism related to events in Iran, prompting investigators to explore whether this aspect of his life could be tied to his current situation. However, Fong reassured the public that, regardless of the circumstances surrounding his activism, the investigation will proceed with its standard protocols. "This is just one part of the puzzle we are looking into," she explained.
The inquiry began when concerned neighbors alerted the Burnaby RCMP about Masjoody’s absence on Monday, triggering an immediate investigation. Authorities are urging anyone who might have insights about his disappearance to come forward. "We believe there are family members and friends who possess crucial information that could assist us, and we encourage them to reach out," Fong urged.
